Healthy, Homemade Dog Treats

bella.jpgMany of us consider our pets like family. I make a point to eat healthy foods so it makes sense that I would want my dog to eat healthy food and snacks as well. Just about everything I've seen in pet stores is junk. Some of you may think making your dog homemade cookies is very time consuming, rest assured, it is not! You can double the batch and freeze them in an airtight container.

Breath-Freshening Biscuits

  • 3 cups oat flour
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup virgin coconut oil (melted if it's solid)
  • 1 whole egg plus one extra yolk

Preheat oven to 400F. Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Put the flour and mint into a mixing bowl and stir to combine. Add the liquid ingredients. Stir to combine. Using a teaspoon (or tablespoon if larger cookies are desired) onto the cookie sheet 1 inch apart. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer for longer storage.
